Down Syndrome Education Series - IEP Goal Writing and Advocacy

***Please note that this presentation is being held in Mammel Hall, located near Aksarben Village, on UNO's Pacific Street campus. You will need to print out the attached ePermit in order to park on campus. Please display the ePermit in your dash when parking in the campus parking lots.***

The Down Syndrome Education Series (DSES) is a monthly educational seminar for families of children with Down syndrome, designed to connect parents with information that will positively impact the education and well-being of their child.

BONUS: 30 minute, small group consults with Catherine Whitcher will be available, free of charge, during the day on March 7th and early March 8th. 
IMPORTANT: You will be contacted by Karen Homer, by email, to arrange your small group consult. The consult will take place at the UNO Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center. Please send an email to karen@catherinewhitcher.com to request information on attending a small group consult.

Speaker Bio-
Catherine Whitcher, M.Ed is passionate about advocating for special needs families. She has a brother with Down Syndrome and has been in the special needs community professionally as an advocate, speaker and consultant for over 20 years. Catherine began advocating for better, more effective special education programs after experiencing the challenges of our school systems as a certified special education teacher.

Catherine's mission is to educate and empower parents and professionals on how to design and implement special education programs for success. She has founded the Online IEP Help Center, travels nationwide to speak with parents & IEP teams, and reaches over 100,000 families weekly through social media. Catherine helps both parents and professionals build IEPs and action plans to help all children prepare for Further Education, Employment and Independent Living to the best of their ability with an emphasis of never letting a label limit a child.
