The Down Syndrome Education Series (DSES) is a monthly educational seminar for families of children with Down syndrome, designed to connect parents with information that will positively impact the education and well-being of their child. Separate educator sessions are held when the topic is relevant.

Terri Couwenhoven is a well known sex educator and author, specializing in the design and implementation of sexuality programs and resources for people with cognitive disabilities, their parents, and the professionals who support them. Her gentle, matter-of-fact approach combined with extensive knowledge and experience make her a popular speaker with self advocates, parents and professionals around the country. Terri is also the mother of an adult daughter with Down syndrome.

Session Description - "Issues and Concerns During Puberty "
The years leading up to and into pubescence can create anxiety for many families as their child’s development forces the realization and inevitability of adulthood. Content for this workshop focuses on the common questions and concerns identified by parents.

Childcare is not provided. With the exception of infants, we request that you refrain from bringing children to this event.
