 \n\nThe Down Syndrome Education Series (DSES) is a monthly educational sem
 inar for families of children with Down syndrome\, designed to connect par
 ents with information that will positively impact the education and well-b
 eing of their child.  Separate educator sessions are held when the topic i
 s relevant.\n\nTerri Couwenhoven is a well known sex educator and author\,
  specializing in the design and implementation of sexuality programs and r
 esources for people with cognitive disabilities\, their parents\, and the 
 professionals who support them.  Her gentle\, matter-of-fact approach comb
 ined with extensive knowledge and experience make her a popular speaker wi
 th self advocates\, parents and professionals around the country.  Terri i
 s also the mother of an adult daughter with Down syndrome.\n\nSession Desc
 ription - 'Issues and Concerns During Puberty '\nThe years leading up to a
 nd into pubescence can create anxiety for many families as their child’s d
 evelopment forces the realization and inevitability of adulthood.  Content
  for this workshop focuses on the common questions and concerns identified
  by parents.\n\nChildcare is not provided.  With the exception of infants\
 , we request that you refrain from bringing children to this event.
