The Down Syndrome Education Series (DSES) is a monthly educational seminar for families of children with Down syndrome, designed to connect parents with information that will positively impact the education and well-being of their child.
Sara Hart Weir, MS, serves as the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) Vice President of Advocacy & Affiliate Relations.
Ms. Weir leads the organization's Washington, DC office and oversees the organization’s work on Capitol Hill, its legislative agenda, and leads NDSS’ advocacy, affiliate, and educational programs. Ms. Weir was recently appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley of Maryland to Commission for Effective Community Inclusion of Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Ms. Weir currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Westminster College, President of the Westminster College Alumni Council, on the National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia and as a Board Member to the Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia.
Ms. Weir's passion of advocating for all people with Down syndrome and their families stems from her friendship with a young woman from Kansas, Kasey, who happens to have Down syndrome. She first served as a mentor to Kasey over a decade ago.
