 al Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) Vice President of Advocacy & Affiliate Rel
 ations.\n\nMs. Weir leads the organization's Washington\, DC office and ov
 ersees the organization’s work on Capitol Hill\, its legislative agenda\, 
 and leads NDSS’ advocacy\, affiliate\, and educational programs.  Ms. Weir
  was recently appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley of Maryland to Commiss
 ion for Effective Community Inclusion of Individuals with Intellectual and
  Developmental Disabilities.  Ms. Weir currently serves on the Board of Tr
 ustees for Westminster College\, President of the Westminster College Alum
 ni Council\, on the National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and D
 ementia and as a Board Member to the Down Syndrome Association of Northern
  Virginia.\nMs. Weir's passion of advocating for all people with Down synd
 rome and their families stems from her friendship with a young woman from 
 Kansas\, Kasey\, who happens to have Down syndrome.  She first served as a
  mentor to Kasey over a decade ago.\n\nSession Description - 'National Adv
