The Down Syndrome Education Series (DSES) is a monthly educational seminar for families of children with Down syndrome, designed to connect parents with information that will positively impact the education and well-being of their child.

February 9th, 2021 Topic & Speakers:
“Neurodevelopment, sleep concerns, and early signs of dementia in individuals with Down Syndrome", Speaker: Dr. Mathur, Boys Town National Research Hospital

About the Topic & Speaker:
DSA will host Dr. Mathur as the February DSES speaker. She will present on Neurodevelopment, sleep concerns, and early signs of dementia in individuals with Down Syndrome. This presentation is open to caregivers or parents of individuals who have Down syndrome.

Dr. Shaguna Mathur is a pediatric neurologist and neurodevelopmental specialist at Boys Town National Research Hospital. She is a part of the neurodevelopmental team at Boys Town Hospital and hosts both the Autism and Down Syndrome Clinics at Boys Town. Dr. Mathur completed her Residency in Pediatrics from Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, IL and then went onto complete her specialty training in neurology at Boston Children’s Hospital-Harvard Medical program. Prior to that she worked in translational research in the field of neurodevelopmental disabilities at Rush University Medical Center specializing in Fragile X syndrome and Down syndrome.
