UNO Mammel Hall Room 113

The Down Syndrome Education Series (DSES) is a monthly educational seminar for families of children with Down syndrome, designed to connect parents with information that will positively impact the education and well-being of their child.

The presentation is held at UNO's College of Business Administration building, Mammel Hall. It is located on the Pacific Street campus. 6708 Pine Street. The University has open parking on December 13th so no parking pass is required.

Enable Savings Plans

The Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act was signed into law authorizing individuals with disabilities to open tax-exempt savings accounts to save for disability-related expenses without impacting eligibility for resource-based benefits. The Act permits individuals with disabilities to save more than a total of $2,000 in assets (cash, savings, etc.) in their name in an Enable savings account.

Amelis Long, Enable Outreach Specialist, from First National Bank will be presenting on the Nebraska ABLE Act and Enable accounts. There will be designated time after the presentation for you to register for an Enable account, should you choose to do so, and Amelis will be available to assist you with any questions you may have along the way!*

- What is an ENABLE account?
- Do we need an ENABLE account?
- Who is eligible for an ENABLE account?
- What are the limitations of an ENABLE account?
- How do I open an ENABLE account?
- How is an ENABLE account different than a special needs trust?

Registration will close Monday, December 12th at 8am.

*Please note, there are documents you will need to bring to the presentation if you want to register on-site. I will email you that information as you register but you may need a few days to gather all the required information.
***Childcare is not provided. With the exception of infants, we request that you refrain from bringing children to this event.
