The Down Syndrome Education Series (DSES) is a monthly educational seminar for families of children with Down syndrome, designed to connect parents with information that will positively impact the education and well-being of their child.

School Behavior Management -
This session will focus on the reasons students behave as they do and the principles and strategies for encouraging various appropriate and desired behaviors, such as compliance in school-age children with and without developmental disabilities. Discussion will also address strategies for reducing disruptive and unsafe behaviors through teaching, and improving behavior in the classroom.

Speaker Bio-
Dr. Brian Belden received his PhD in Developmental and Child Psychology from the University of Kansas in 1983. Since 1984 he has served as a Clinical Child Psychologist at Children's Mercy Kansas City with emphasis in young children and children with special needs. For past 12 years Dr. Belden has been the primary psychologist in the Children’s Mercy Down Syndrome Clinic, which serves children and families from across the region.

Dr. Cy Nadler received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Idaho State University in 2012. He completed internship at the Munroe-Meyer Institute/University of Nebraska Medical Center and a fellowship at Children's Mercy Kansas City before joining the faculty there in 2013. Dr. Nadler specializes in behavioral intervention and parent training for children with special needs, and conducts research related to autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
