 rome Education Series. The program is available for siblings ages 6-13. DS
 A families will pay a special rate of $5 per child to participate and will
  sign up through the Oliie Webb Center\, Inc. website below.  This program
  is held at the same time and location as our Down Syndrome Education Seri
 es\, held for DSA parents\, please sign up for the presentation separately
  through the calendar link. \n\nWhat is Sibshops?\nSibshops are opportunit
 ies for brothers and sisters of children with disabilities to play and obt
 ain peer support with education included. They are lively pedal-to-the-med
 al celebrations of the many contributions made by brothers and sisters of 
 kids with special needs. Sibshops is not group therapy although their effe
 ct may be therapeutic for some children.\n\nWho Participates in Sibshops?
 \nSibshops is designed for children ages\, 6 – 13 who have a brother or si
 ster with disabilities. Sibshops is facilitated by a Trained Adult Sibling
  Facilitator.\n\nWhy do Siblings Need A Program Such as Sibshops?\nSibling
 s of children with disabilities want to understand what’s going on with th
 eir brother or sister and the implications. They need information for reas
 surance\, to answer their own questions and questions posed by others\, an
 d to plan for their future. And\, unless their brother or sister has a ter
 minal condition\, the need will be lifelong and the topics ever-changing.
 \n\nWhat are the Goals of the Program?\nParticipants get to meet other sib
 lings in a relaxed recreational setting\, where they can discuss their per
 sonal joys and concerns with other siblings who understand. They will lear
 n how to handle situations commonly experienced by siblings and the implic
 ations of their brother’s or sister’s special needs. Sibshops also provide
  parents and professionals in the community an opportunity to learn more a
 bout the concerns and issues frequently experienced by brothers and sister
