  is a monthly educational seminar for families of children with Down syndr
 ome\, designed to connect parents with information that will positively im
 pact the education and well-being of their child.\n\nBehavior Management i
 n All Ages! - \nThis session will focus on the reasons individuals with Do
 wn syndrome behave as they do and the principles and strategies for encour
 aging various appropriate and desired behaviors. Discussion will also addr
 ess strategies for reducing disruptive and unsafe behaviors through teachi
 ng\, and improving behavior in the classroom and at home. Following the pr
 esentation\, we will break into age ranges for a Q&A session.\n\nSpeaker B
 io - \nDr. Brian Belden received his PhD in Developmental and Child Psycho
 logy from the University of Kansas in 1983. Since 1984 he has served as a 
 Clinical Child Psychologist at Children's Mercy Kansas City with emphasis 
 in young children and children with special needs. For past 12 years Dr. B
 elden has been the primary psychologist in the Children’s Mercy Down Syndr
 ome Clinic\, which serves children and families from across the region.\n 
 \nDr. Cy Nadler received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Idaho State U
 niversity in 2012. He completed internship at the Munroe-Meyer Institute/U
 niversity of Nebraska Medical Center and a fellowship at Children's Mercy 
 Kansas City before joining the faculty there in 2013. Dr. Nadler specializ
 es in behavioral intervention and parent training for children with specia
 l needs\, and conducts research related to autism and other neurodevelopme
 ntal disorders.\n\n***Childcare is not provided.  With the exception of in
 fants\, we request that you refrain from bringing children to this event.
