  on recognizing and capitalizing upon the learning profile of children wit
 h Down syndrome\, using parental knowledge to positively and proactively p
 repare for the IEP process\, and how to incorporate academic and behaviora
 l concerns into a strong and functional IEP.  Strategies will also be prov
 ided concerning how to prevent problematic behaviors from occurring and ho
 w to create positive (and useful) behavior plans and behavior goals.  \n\n
 Speaker Bio-\nGretchen Carroll\, M.A. is the Clinical Special Educator and
  School Liaison for the Jane and Richard Thomas Center for Down Syndrome a
 nd the Neurodevelopmental Education Clinic at Cincinnati Children's Hospit
 al Medical Center. She earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Learning 
 Disabilities from Northwestern University and has worked as a clinical spe
 cial educator\, learning specialist\, and school consultant for over twent
 y five years. Gretchen has worked with hundreds of students and schools to
  improve academic and behavioral outcomes for children with Down syndrome.
  She speaks locally and nationally with expertise in the areas of IEP prep
 aration\, learning strategies\, inclusion\, and behavior.\n\nThe Down Synd
 rome Education Series (DSES) is a monthly educational seminar for families
  of children with Down syndrome\, designed to connect parents with informa
 tion that will positively impact the education and well-being of their chi
 ld.\n\n\n***Childcare is not provided.  With the exception of infants\, we
