  Education Series (DSES) is a monthly educational seminar for families of 
 children with Down syndrome\, designed to connect parents with information
  that will positively impact the education and well-being of their child. 
  Separate educator sessions are held when the topic is relevant.\n\nTerri 
 Couwenhoven is a well known sex educator and author\, specializing in the 
 design and implementation of sexuality programs and resources for people w
 ith cognitive disabilities\, their parents\, and the professionals who sup
 port them.  Her gentle\, matter-of-fact approach combined with extensive k
 nowledge and experience make her a popular speaker with self advocates\, p
 arents and professionals around the country.  Terri is also the mother of 
 an adult daughter with Down syndrome.\n\nSession Description - 'Issues and
  Concerns During Puberty '\nThe years leading up to and into pubescence ca
 n create anxiety for many families as their child’s development forces the
  realization and inevitability of adulthood.  Content for this workshop fo
 cuses on the common questions and concerns identified by parents.\n\n\nChi
 ldcare is not provided.  With the exception of infants\, we request that y
 ou refrain from bringing children to this event.
