 ies (DSES) is a monthly educational seminar for families of children with 
 Down syndrome\, designed to connect parents with information that will pos
 itively impact the education and well-being of their child.\n\nKim Voss is
  a dedicated advocate\, author\, and speaker.  As the mother of a daughter
  with Down syndrome\, Kim realized that she could affect the education of 
 her daughter\, as well as other children\, by using technology to design m
 eaningful and appropriate software and educational materials.  Kim has pre
 sented workshops on advocacy\, inclusion and the use of technology at loca
 l\, state\, national and international conferences.\n\nSession Description
  - 'From Low Tech to High Tech: Begin Teaching by Design' and 'Who Am I?: 
 Computer Designing a Dynamic Student Portfolio'\n\nLearn to effectively us
 e media\, layout\, images\, and text as described in Kim’s award-winning b
 ook 'Teaching by Design: Using Your Computer to Create Materials for Stude
 nts with Learning Differences.'  Create high-quality strategies\, from low
  to high tech\, that meet the particular learning needs of individual stud
 ents.   Participants will learn the “whys\,” the “how to\,” and the “what 
 for’s” for creating a dynamic portfolio. \n\nChildcare is not provided.  W
 ith the exception of infants\, we request that you refrain from bringing c
 hildren to this event.
