“Preparing for Employment" Presented by Stephanie Meredith, KentuckyWorks

Stephanie Meredith is the Director of the Lettercase National Center for Prenatal and Postnatal Resources at the University of Kentucky’s Human Development Institute. She is also the author of "Understanding a Down Syndrome Diagnosis" and similar resources about other prenatally-diagnosed genetic conditions. Further, Meredith is the co-author of "Diagnosis to Delivery: A Pregnant Mother's Guide to DS” and “Welcoming a Newborn with Down syndrome.” In addition, she developed the Bright Futures curriculum for KentuckyWorks, a grant-funded program to improve employment outcomes for people with disabilities in Kentucky, and she's the mother of a 21-year-old son with Down syndrome and two younger daughters.

Topics:
Stephanie Meredith will share tips and tools for meaningful employment throughout the school years based on KentuckyWorks Employment/Family Engagement. She will outline what competitive employment means, how to create a vision statement for the future, how to explore and develop works skills and talents, how to address concerns, and what resources you can use to help your child achieve his or her dreams. This speaker series is appropriate for families who have a child with Down syndrome from Pre-k to teen who are starting to prepare for future employment goals.
